SRB taps Coffee Red Ale for Opening Day

Baseball is back and we are now proudly served at Progressive Field! To celebrate we will be releasing our Coffee Red Ale on Tuesday, April 11th at 3pm in the taproom. This limited pilot brew will be available exclusively in the SRB taproom to enjoy while watching the games. This beer was brewed Phoenix Coffee’s Rwanda Gaseke Vunga coffee beans. Rated at 5.5% ABV and 35 IBUs, Coffee Red Ale will be priced at $6 per pint. Growler fills will be available.

About the Beer:

We took a few barrels of our flagship Red Ale and conditioned it with freshly roasted whole bean coffee from our friends at Phoenix Coffee.  We trialed 3 different varieties at different dosing levels and decided on the Gaske Vunga from Rwanda at a rate of about 1.3 pounds per barrel.  Using whole beans instead of ground or cold press gives a rounder, more subtle coffee flavor.  The aroma is iced coffee and caramel, the body of the beer drinks like our Red Ale with a lightly roasted and sweetened coffee finish.

 

5.5% ABV / 35 IBU
