Coffee Red

We took a few barrels of our flagship Red Ale and conditioned it with freshly roasted whole bean coffee from our friends as Phoenix Coffee. We trialed 3 different varieties at different dosing levels and decided on the Gaske Vunga from Rwanda at a rate of about 1.3 pounds per barrel. Using whole beans instead of ground or cold press gives a rounder, more subtle coffee flavor. The aroma is iced coffee and caramel, the body of the beer drinks like our Red Ale with a lightly roasted and sweetened coffee finish.
